Football, commonly known as soccer, is however very popular especially at junior levels. And if you have a good football player in your family, they will probably do very well in New Zealand.

UK football games are broadcast on Sky TV, and the results are widely reported in the news. While the senior leagues in New Zealand may not have the same skill levels as their UK counterparts, it is still a good spectator sport. Even major games have very reasonable ticket prices, and there is none of the crowd violence that dogs the sport in the UK.
