Protection from exchange rate fluctuations |
You can save a significant amount by taking advantage of Broadbase International's service offering you protection from exchange rate fluctuations when you transfer you pension to New Zealand.
One of our clients recently transferred £228,000 from his UK pension scheme. On the date the funds arrived in New Zealand the exchange rate was 2.54 dollars to the pound. This would have given him a pension fund of $579,120. We were able to hold his funds in pounds while he waited for a better exchange rate. He exchanged a couple of weeks later at an exchange rate of 2.89, equating to a fund of $658,920. He received $79,800 (plus interest!) more than what he would have received if his funds had been converted into dollars when the funds arrived in New Zealand. The vast majority of our clients over the past 5 years have made more using this facility than the fees for the transfer. Please see our article on exchange rate volatility for further information on how much the Pound to Dollar exchange rate does change over short and long periods of time.
